Portfolio building

"Yes, our goal is to provide a tool that is quick, simple, and intuitive to use. We co-created it with you, the information talents, to best meet your expectations and needs.

To sign up and create your portfolio, simply click on Create your portfolio. You are free to make your portfolio visible once it is complete.

Once you have created your account and filled in the basic information (name, job, city, profile photo...), you can start building your portfolio. To complete it and add your work later, go to your dashboard.

Remember to save your additions and changes using the "Confirm," "Save changes," or "Publish my work" buttons.

You can manage the visibility of your portfolio. It will start being indexed once you check the "Portfolio visible online" box at the bottom of the "Edit your information" section in your dashboard.

"Yes, you can add your resume to the portfolio as a complement to your work. During the creation or update of your portfolio, simply upload your document online. Only PDF documents are accepted.

To prevent the indexing of your sensitive data (such as phone number or home address), we ensure that the information in your resume is not included by search engines.

However, manual access to your portfolio and viewing or downloading your resume allows the data to be retrieved. Therefore, consider carefully which information you wish to publish."

Your profile picture file must be in JPEG, PNG, or GIF format.

The file width must be at least 400px.

The file height must be at least 400px.

The file size must not exceed 10MB.

Ginkio acts only as a hosting provider. The content you post is therefore your responsibility. You must ensure that you have the rights to the images you post. If they are "royalty-free" images, make sure to verify their usage conditions.

The top part of your portfolio includes a "Contact Me" button by default. To protect your privacy, we have chosen a contact form. Responses will be sent to you via email at the address provided when you created your Ginkio account.
If you do not wish to be contacted through your portfolio, simply uncheck the "Contact me" button visible on your profile (located at the bottom of the form) when creating your portfolio or at any time by logging back into your dashboard.

Yes, you can freely choose the web address of your portfolio during its creation. It will be in the following format: https://ginkio.com/yourname. By default, Ginkio suggests your first name followed by your last name, separated by a hyphen. You can modify it (subject to availability).

You can also change the URL later. However, once your page is indexed, changing the URL might cause you to lose your ranking in search engines, and clicking on an outdated link may lead to a 404 error (non-existent page) until the new URL is updated in their index.

It's simple: when creating your portfolio, do not check the "Online portfolio" option. You can also make your portfolio invisible at any time by going to your dashboard, under "Edit your information," and unchecking the "Portfolio visible online" box.

Note: Making a portfolio that has already been published and indexed invisible will cause you to lose your ranking in search engines.

Dashboard

Your dashboard is the central place where you can manage your portfolio: it allows you to edit your information (description, experiences, tags...), add, modify or delete works, and access your online portfolio.

You will also find the number of views your portfolio has received in the last 90 days.

Your "Portfolio" is your entire page, whether published or unpublished. It consists of an upper section summarizing your profile ("Info") and a lower section containing your "Projects," which are the text, video, and audio references you have added. For clarity, "Info" and "Projects" are managed separately in your dashboard.

Projects

Projects are the core of your portfolio: they are the references that best reflect your work and professional positioning. We recommend choosing them carefully, putting the ones that best represent you first, and updating them regularly.

The media pays particular attention to the projects of an information talent. Unlike other platforms that focus primarily on resumes, we give projects a central place on Ginkio.

Until now, those responsible for recruiting information talents had to request links, video transfers, or conduct their own research to evaluate a candidate's projects."

You can currently publish three different types of projects: text, audio, and video. For more details about each format, please refer to the following questions.

Generally, when working for a media outlet, you relinquish the commercial rights to your projects. However, it is widely accepted that you have the right to showcase some of the content you have created for the purpose of presenting your work.

There are two ways to publish an article: via a web address ("Link to your project") or by uploading a PDF.

If your article is already online, for example on a media site, simply provide the web address link. Our platform will then automatically retrieve as much information as possible (visuals, title...). This is the easiest and quickest way to add a project. Remember to complete these details.

If your article is not available online or if you have a visually richer version, you can also upload your text project as a PDF. Unlike adding via a web address, it will be stored on your Ginkio account.

A video project must be added via a web address ("Link to your project"). This means your video needs to be previously published on a video platform. For optimal compatibility, we currently recommend YouTube and Vimeo. Our platform will automatically retrieve as much information as possible (title, introduction text...). Remember to complete these details. Your video will be displayed on your portfolio as an embedded link.

It is not possible to upload your video file directly to Ginkio. To ensure the best playback quality, we rely on existing streaming services like YouTube or Vimeo.

If you do not have a YouTube or Vimeo link, you can link to the page containing your video, such as on a media website. In this case, the embedding feature will not work."

Yes, you can change the order of your projects. Simply go to the "Your Projects" page in the dashboard and rearrange them using drag and drop.

We recommend displaying first the projects that best represent your work or those you are particularly proud of. To help with this, Ginkio offers a free online course."

"Yes, you can easily edit projects by going to the "Your Projects" page in the dashboard. Clicking the "Edit" icon on an existing project allows you to modify its details.

On the same page, you can also hide a project from being displayed online ("Hide") or permanently delete it ("Delete")."

Online Portfolio

The portfolio search engine takes into account all the information on a talent's portfolio. For instance, you can search using a specific person's name or a skill.

All data included in a talent's project, such as its title or descriptive text, also contribute to a portfolio appearing in search results.

Tags play an important role on Ginkio. When creating your portfolio, they help summarize your profile in a few keywords. Tags can be used freely to indicate your specialties, preferred topics, or the types of media you work with.

The more specific a tag is, the more you stand out from other portfolios, especially during precise searches. For example, if your specialty is "Sports" we recommend adding tags like "Cycling" or "Tour de France" in addition to "Sports".

When you enter a tag, the platform will suggest existing ones in a dropdown menu. If the tag doesn't exist yet, you can add it as a new one.

Tags are part of the information considered by Ginkio's search engine. In addition, you can click on a tag to display all the portfolios that include it. This allows you to easily access similar portfolios.

Main tags appear at the top of the portfolio and are managed through the "Info" section in the dashboard. Their purpose is to summarize a talent's profile in a few keywords.

Project tags are used to add specific keywords to each published project. This allows you to enrich each project further and increase your visibility on Ginkio.

"Congratulations, you've completed the first step! To make the most of your new portfolio, you need to promote it. We recommend adding its web address to your existing social networks, for example, as the "website" in your Facebook or Twitter profile.

You can also announce the publication of your new portfolio through a post on your usual accounts by copying its web address.

Lastly, consider including your portfolio's address in all your communications, such as in your email signature.

All these actions create inbound links to your portfolio, which also improves its ranking in search engines."

To rank portfolios on Ginkio, our algorithm mainly considers two factors: the creation/modification date of the portfolio and its completion rate. If you want to appear higher in the results, we recommend thoroughly filling in your information, enriching your portfolio by adding multiple projects, and regularly updating it. This is the best way to get noticed on the platform.
